The Teachers’ Strike of 1974

On February 15th 1974, over 1000 Surrey (BC, Canada) teachers left their classrooms and schools, travelling by ferry to the Legislature in Victoria to protest the lack of action by the Provincial Government to reduce the large class sizes in Surrey, and in the rest of the province. The results of that protest were profound and it became the first Provincial Teachers Strike.
