Strikes and Mail Delays: What Retired Teachers Need to Know

By October 12, 2025No Comments
Postal service disruptions

As you may be aware the BC General Employees’ Union and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers are both on strike as of this week. Currently no mail is being delivered or processed. This affects the delivery of mailed Teachers’ Pension Plan documents. Your plan is monitoring the situation closely and has processes in place to ensure essential services, including the electronic delivery of pension payments, continue without interruption.

If you receive your pension information by mail, like your annual benefit statement, pension payments or Pension Life, you will experience delays. Your plan continues to serve you online during this disruption. You can set up direct deposit through My Account, read Pension Life and access pension-related information on the plan’s website. Service updates can also be found on the plan’s website.

If you have questions about your pension, you can use Message Centre via My Account to send and receive communications securely or visit tpp.pensionsbc.ca.

When Will Postal Services Resume?

Although CUPW announced that as of October 11th the nationwide strike will transition into rotating strikes[1], there is still no clear timeline for when individuals will begin receiving mail[2].
